I myself will look at a knitting magazine 2-3 times before purchasing, unless of course I love a ton in the mag than I will purchase right then and there. I find if I only like 1 or 2 things, I will need to stew about purchasing. I generally find that when I return I will like things I didn't before.

Good for you about willing to frog instead of continuing with it when your energy could go to something you will love in the end! This yarn will jump into something much better suited for it, or to your liking.

Oh! I really really like that scarf, and I think I will add it to my queue. :) But, I totally understand where you are coming from - and, like Chris, I think it's awesome that you are willing to say "this isn't for me" and stop NOW, instead of working frustratingly through to the bitter end, for a product you don't even want to see through anyway. Yay! I am looking forward to seeing what you DO decide to use that yarn for - it's very pretty. I really like GMS.

Good for you for admitting you weren't loving it. I usually get a lot further into a project before I can admit that.

I'll tell you the other thing about that scarf (I made one in a fine merino/cashmere blend). It takes forever to knit. I would knit and knit and knit and knit and measure...and realize that I had added 1/2".

Having said that, I love the scarf now that it's finished.
